Happy Hump Day, everyone! And now that we have your attention, did you know that today, Wednesday, February 24th is Pink Day? 💖 What’s Pink Day you might be asking?
Pink Day was established in 2007 after a pair of high school students saw one of their fellow classmates being bullied for no other reason than for wearing a pink shirt.
As a way to show support and stand up for him, the two young men got everyone at their school to wear pink shirts the next day to show the bully that there were more of them than him and that bullying wasn’t something anyone at their school was going to tolerate!
If you’ve ever been bullied, (whether in person or online) - then you know that it’s NOT fun and how badly it hurts…even for years afterwards - it can haunt you for life.
I fear for the day someone tries to bully one of my daughters. And with Ava having disabilities, she’s even at a greater risk of encountering bullies one day. The thought of it just turns my stomach. Who will stand up for her? Who will help her and protect her?
Make no mistake, bullying is abuse and if you see it happening speak up, stand up and use your voice to help the person being bullied. I promise to do it for your kid if you do it for mine! 👊🏼💖 #pinkshirtday #bullyingawareness #williamssyndrome
