When mom, Jayna, picked Layana's middle name, she never imagined how stormy her unborn child's journey would be. Layana was diagnosed with severe Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE); one of the most serious birth complications that affects full-term infants. HIE often results in severe disabilities with high support needs.
